The Iris Nebula is a reflection nebula located in the constellation Cepheus.
It is located approximately 1,400 light years from Earth.

It was discovered in 1794 by William Herschel.
​

It is best to observe it in spring and summer.
​
At the center of the nebula is a star called HD200775, 10 times the mass of our Sun, which illuminates this relatively dark object.​
