The Eagle Nebula is an emission nebula with an open cluster that is capable of forming stars.

It was discovered in 1745.

It is approximately 7,000 light years away from Earth.

It is best to observe it from the beginning of summer until October, when it is highest in the sky. Unfortunately, the nebula is invisible to the naked eye and only through binoculars in very good conditions.

The entire nebula is 70 x 55 light years in size.

The nebula contains approximately 460 young stars, whose age is estimated by scientists at 1-2 million years.
